One Week Ritual

August 26, 2022 - A guest entry

From Hamlet (Seed&Spark)

Dear Supporters,

I'm Costanza and I'm the Covid Compliance Officer for Hamlet. Also, helping out with emails, pictures, promotion stuff.

Iā€™m not usually the one leaving you updates. But right now Hilary is on stage, doing what she loves probably the most.

Today is Friday, Day 5 of our rehearsal process.

I feel deeply grateful to be part of this amazing team.

Every day, as you enter the room, you can immediately feel the electricity, the joy and the excitement to be here - together.

Since day one everyone chose to genuinely share their own vulnerability and their strength.

I believe the stage has something magical - which makes even more sense talking about Shakespeare, and Hamlet itself.

Magical meant as spiritual, and ritual

Being part of a ritual involves our own mortal bodies. It requires the deepest connection to our senses and to our souls. It requires a third ear toward our inner selves.

Being part of a ritual means being part of a community and creating with that something so powerful that could shake Earth and Sky.

Staying in the audience makes me feel like someone sneaking in the woods, looking at this ceremony happening with so much grace and mystery.

And there's nothing scary. Just this dense feeling of pure curiosity, and tension to be part of what's happening.

That's what I believe you all are gonna experience this weekend.

A strong connection to this incredible story, to those words, to every character's and actor's eyes. Hope you're gonna see the sweat on their bodies, the goose bumps on their skin, the tears and the laughters (which are actually a lot!) popping up on their faces.

((It's shocking seeing how our mortal bodies could help us reach something that cannot be define or touched!))

We all cannot wait to have you at La MaMa this upcoming Saturday and Sunday!

Thanks to you Hamlet has grown.

Thanks to you this cast and crew are working on something magical.

And thanks to Hilary our paths crossed each other's. And I couldn't be more grateful.

Enjoy the show!;)
